I occasionally see the ads; exotic locations
or adventurous experiences or exposure to the unique or unusual and the ever
present promise that it will be the trip of a lifetime. But, how can that really
be?
I suppose that if it is the last trip of
your life and you really can objectively look back over your life and assess
and evaluate and come to the conclusion that it was the trip of a lifetime,
then maybe it arguable could be. But any
trip experienced before the end of your life, well, it seems that you have to
deal with the reality that the real trip of a lifetime could still be right
around the corner.
But there is a trip of a lifetime that is
guaranteed to be a trip of a lifetime.
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,
with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call
of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever”. (1
Thess 4:16-17).
So whether He comes while I am still alive
or after I have already passed away, I will be caught up with Him in the air
along with those in Christ to be with Him forever. That will be trip of a lifetime…
We did just return from trip (vacation). It was very nice, especially to be somewhere warm when the snow hit Dubuque big time, but it wasn’t even the best of the
trips we’ve taken over the years and it certainly could never compare to THE trip of a
lifetime!
