Heading out to get stuck, it is a bit of an incongruous
thought…
Who heads out just to get stuck? But, there is context to that. More on that in a moment…
David once wrote: “I sink in deep mire, where there is no
foothold…”
(Ps 69:2)
I think it’s safe to say that no one really
wants to sink in the deep mire and get stuck!
And if we do get stuck, I think we would normally cry out to be
rescued.
David also wrote: “I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined
to me and heard my cry. He drew me up
from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.” (Psalm 40:1-2)
Out of the miry bog and onto a rock where
steps are secure – that’s what I call a rescue, and the rescuer is God Himself!
By the way, the context for the “heading out
to get stuck” is that the parking area for our house is accessed though an alley
that does not always get plowed when it snows.
So, when it snows, it is quite possible to get stuck while heading out.
So, my wife made that comment when she was
heading out on an errand and thankfully she didn’t get stuck and need a rescue,
at least that time anyway…
